The story, in order
Before
I grew up the eldest of five in rural Quebec, half a parent before I was ten, writing in diaries because I couldn't say any of it out loud. My teens and early twenties were one escape after another: Katimavik, three different college programs, the Camino, Southeast Asia. Every one of them brought me back where I started. At 22 I was broke in Montreal and tried an arrangement with a much older man, and it taught me that what I wanted was never money. It was someone to follow.
Him
Late in 2014 I met Vincent, a filmmaker and photographer twice my age. I checked everything he told me, and nothing was ever false. On our first night he asked if he could put a collar on me, and I said yes. Not even a month later I put it on myself, so he would know it was my choice. I asked to become his model and his partner, and his one condition was that I tell my parents first. I did.
Piper
On March 29, 2015, Piper Blush was born. "Dom" felt like play-acting, so I started calling him Master, from the Latin for teacher, because that is what he was. He taught me everything: how to shoot, how to keep the books, how to pay the taxes. When his assistant fell ill, I took over her work and became his partner in the business. The harder lessons were at home, learning to own my choices in front of my own family.
The Click
Then it all went wrong in public. On a radio show I couldn't answer a single question straight, I just went off on tangents, and soon after, Facebook erased my pages. I kept waiting for something outside me to change, until one morning I understood that the only thing stopping me was me. That was the click. Not long after, he offered me a locked steel collar, the Eternity Collar, and I said yes for good.
Going Public
In 2017 we started posting a video every day on YouTube, and one of them, a jump rope video, was seen by millions. Within months I was earning more in a month than my parents made in a year. Then came the other side: harassment, stolen videos, a stalker who knew where we lived. So we gave away almost everything we owned and flew to Malta to start over.
Why I Wrote This
Malta didn't work out, and we made our home in Vancouver. We tried to guide other women the way he had guided me, and one by one, they all left. That is when I understood that what happened to me couldn't be passed on in a conversation, so I wrote it down, all of it, in order. The book ends with my five collars, what each one marks, and why this submissive woman is happier.
